Lots of snow for Atlanta and the city still hasn’t plowed many of the major roads. Good thing I have terrible all season tires, RWD, and an open diff.
But dammit, I need some chilli ingredients.

Bham didn’t get anything really. City shut down but it’s passable today.

I was in atl once after an ice storm. roads were essentially cleared, but we turned a corner and thought there was a loose sheep in the middle of the road. Nope, some MASSIVE chunk of ice/snow.
We stopped to clear it so no one else would risk hitting it, it was HEAVY. Basically solid ice in near perfect sheep dimensions.

It might have been plowed at one time, but that’s about an inch of packed snow. It’s a main road that should have been completely plowed by that time (10 am)

Good thing I have front wheel drive, an open diff, new all seasons, and melting snow. Darn

Ice and my driveway’s incline were quick to remind me of the downsides of an open diff. Driver’s side, no traction. Now it has traction but the passenger side is slipping. Back and forth and back and forth.

Good thing I have a V8, summer tires, the track package, a 100 mile round trip commute, and a PDR for Atlanta traffic.
(Yeah, I did Woodstock to Suwanee and back in the Camaro)

I had to be particularly careful because I have about 350 rwtq at 2500 rpms. lol. Soon as I can get an uprev tune I’ll be closer to 400 at 2500 rpms. The uprev will also give me about 460 peak rwtq, which should be fun. But I was obviously very light with the throttle.
I wouldn’t be surprised if my run flats are just as bad as summer tires in this weather. They were rock hard and frozen. I plan on going with Super Sports in the spring.
The worst part was the open diff combined with the ice and the incline of my driveway. The tiniest amount of ice meant zero traction for that tire and nothing transmitted to the other tire.

The good news is that I can report that the new Camaro SS 1LE can cope with winter weather. Just as long as you don’t have to try starting from a stop while going uphill.

Yeah... I nearly got into a pickle because of all of the hills here. Thankfully I timed a light at the bottom of a steep hill just right to avoid getting burned.
Honestly, the C5Z was a little better in the wet and snow. Easier to slip the clutch and feather the throttle than what I have now.

I grew up in NY. I’m used to waiting a while before roads are plowed, but those roads were usually back roads or small roads. Down here they barely managed to plow a single lane on the major highways.
